Speed meets substance – How Rémy Cointreau uses Ideally to validate innovation

When global spirits company Rémy Cointreau needed a faster, more flexible way to test new product and campaign ideas in the US market, they turned to Ideally. With a portfolio that includes Rémy Martin Cognac, Cointreau, The Botanist Gin, Mount Gay Rum, and Bruichladdich Single Malts, the company faces a competitive and complex landscape.

“We’re not one of the big players but our insights and consumer feedback needs are just as critical and often pressing” explains Ruth Rohlfing, Head of Consumer & Market Insights, Rémy Cointreau USA.

Rémy Cointreau works with a number of global research providers. Ideally offered something different: agility, cost effectiveness, and a collaborative approach backed by strong research expertise.

“It’s high quality feedback with a very fast turnaround and very cost-effective,” says Rohlfing.

“One of the key selling points is the fact that you’ve got an experienced Head of Research behind the tool.  She makes sure that the methodology is still steeped in research best practice and design thinking to ensure quality data.  Too often in research these days, quality can be sacrificed in the name of speed and AI efficiency.”

Ideally’s ability to reach a niche target audience stood out. “It’s crucial that you’re able to reach the type of consumers that we want to speak to, typically in the premium segment. Not all suppliers can do that very easily and still get robust numbers.”

Another highlight is Ideally’s AI-led approach to open-ended data. “The piece so far that I’ve been most impressed by is Ideally’s coding ability of open-ended responses.  Having verbatims summarised in a sensible and immediate way is fundamental in terms of diagnosing further beyond purchase intent and appeal… to really understand what’s driving the success of a particular execution or packaging and what could be optimized.”

The platform’s responsiveness and adaptability also made an impact. “I do really appreciate how the team have taken on board some of my initial feedback… I can definitely see that it’s being worked on and improvements being implemented.”

Ultimately, speed continues to be a key value driver
“Too often with ‘traditional’ agency models, it takes one week to set up, one week to do the field work, two weeks for analysis, and before you know it, it's a four-five week turnaround for a very simple piece.  We often don’t have that luxury of time.”
